Dala 7s 2026: Kabras Sugar Stun Oilers in Comeback Victory to Reclaim Title and Circuit Lead
KISUMU, Kenya, Aug 3 – Kabras Sugar reclaimed the Dala 7s title in style after staging a second-half comeback of 0-5 down to defeat Menengai Oilers 19-5 in the final, reclaiming the crown and soaring to the top spot of the overall National Sevens Circuit standings.
A year after watching KCB lift the Dala Sevens trophy at their expense, the Sugar Millers turned the tables in emphatic fashion.
Second-Half Surge Delivers the Crown The championship turnaround was built on defensive grit and clinical execution after the break.
Derrick Ashihundu got Kabras back on even terms with a sharp finish to level the score at 5-5.Youngster and Series MVP Rayvon Ambale grabbed control of the contest, scoring a crucial try and converting it himself to nudge Kabras ahead.
Fredrick Wangila delivered the final blow to seal the victory, with Michael Lukusi adding the conversion to establish a comfortable cushion.Despite a spirited effort from the Menengai Oilers, Kabras controlled the closing minutes to secure their return to the top of the podium.

Harlequins Stun KCB as Bankers Stumble in Kisumu
While Kabras celebrated, defending circuit champions KCB suffered a weekend to forget.
Coming off a dominant, flawless title run at the season-opening Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru, the Bankers struggled to replicate their high-scoring form on the lakeside.

Early warning signs emerged during the pool stage with a tense 19-19 draw against MMUST.
The tipping point came in the quarter-finals, where Kenya Harlequins produced the biggest shock of the tournament, ousting KCB and ending their title defense prematurely.
KCB eventually salvaged a 5th-place finish by defeating Strathmore 24-17.Quins’ momentum couldn’t quite take them to the final, however, In the third-place playoff, Mwamba 7s edged Quins 27-22 in a thrilling extra-time encounter, decided by a moment of composure from captain Shaquel Bosire after a 17-17 tie in regulation.
Double Joy: Mwamba Ladies Retain Women’s Title
It was a stellar weekend overall for the Mwamba setup. The club’s women’s team went one step further than their male counterparts, claiming the Dala 7s Division One Women’s title with a thrilling 10-7 win over local rivals Kenya Harlequins.
A dramatic last-minute try sealed back-to-back titles for Mwamba Ladies alongside the KES 100,000 cash prize.
Division 2 and Circuit Outlook
In the lower tier at the Impala Club, Catholic Monks earned promotion to Division 1 by overcoming the Stallions 20-14 in the Division 2 final.
The victory earned the Monks KES 70,000, while the Stallions walked away with KES 30,000 as runners-up.
Reflecting on the weekend’s action, SportPesa Head of Public Relations Willis Ojwang highlighted the tightening competition across the circuit:

The 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit takes a one-week breather before heading to the capital for Leg 3 at Kabeberi Memorial Sevens hosted at the Impala Club on 15–16 August 2026.
