APS Bomet promoted to Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL)

BOMET, Kenya, June 14 – The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has promoted South Rift based football club APS Bomet to the Kenyan Premier league following a rulling by Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competition Committee.

The Committee rulling centered around a National Super league match between Kibera Black Stars FC and APS Bomet which was played on 1st June 2025 at Jamhuri Sport’s Ground, Nairobi.

FKF noted that the match was abandoned in the 79th minute and the matter was submitted to the committee to deliberate and determine the outcome of the match.

According to Leagues and Competition Committee findings they highlighted that the match was halted in the 79th minute following a ‘disputed’ goal scored by APS Bomet resulting to Kibera Black Stars Fc fans and officials protest the decision to award the goal attacking the Assistant Referee Eunice Njeri.

“During the entire incident which lasted for 30 minutes there was no presence of police officers, highlighting inadequate security measures put in place by the host club to protect match officials “, said FKF in a statement.

Following the attack, Assistant Referee Eunice Njeri was unable to proceed with the match and with safety and security of the match officials already compromised the match was eventually called-off.

The Committee’s decision in regards to the matter noted that Kibera Black Stars FC caused the abandonment of the match.

“Consequently and in line with Article 3.3.2 as read with Article 3.3.3 of the Football Kenya Federation Rules and Regulations, Kibera Black Stars FC shall forfeit the match and the same shall be awarded to APS Bomet FC on a 2-0 score, 3 point basis”.
