GSU Men’s Team Clinches Kipchumba Karori International Title
UASIN GISHU, Kenya, Dec 22 – The Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament has concluded at Eldoret Polytechnic, capping off an exhilarating day of fiercely contested finals.
The atmosphere was electric as elite teams from across the region delivered a masterclass in athleticism and grit, capping off a high-stakes competition that has solidified Eldoret’s reputation as a premier sporting hub.
In the senior men’s category, the GSU Men’s Volleyball Team emerged victorious after a remarkable comeback, Having dropped the first set to a resilient Chema VC, GSU responded with composure, clinching a 3–1 win to secure the championship title.
GSU’s stellar performance was further reflected in the individual awards: Joshua Kimaru was crowned Most Valuable Player, Hudson Kipchumba was awarded Best Libero, and Brian Melly was recognised as Best Setter.
The women’s final was equally electric. Despite a heartbreaking loss to Kenya Pipeline, the DCI Volleyball Queens took home the silver medal and two individual honours.
Mercy Iminza dazzled her way to the Best Opposite Player award, while Sarah Namisi claimed the Best Outside Hitter accolade.
