Zoomlion Kenya Unveils Eco-Friendly Waste Farm at Wangu Comprehensive School

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 9 – Zoomlion Kenya Waste Services Limited has officially launched its Eco-Friendly Waste Management Farm at Wangu Comprehensive Primary and Junior School in Dandora, Nairobi, marking a significant milestone in sustainable waste management, environmental conservation and community empowerment.

The launch was held in strategic partnership with Hon. Esther Passaris, Nairobi County Woman Representative, who joined the Zoomlion Kenya team for the sustainability initiative. Also present were Kenneth Kumi, Zoomlion Kenya Head of Operations, Nairobi, Wangu Primary School Headteacher Wachira Kagunya and Julius Were,a Local Leader, alongside other Stakeholders.

The initiative demonstrates how organic urban waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich compost to support sustainable agriculture, reduce pressure on overloaded disposal sites and promote a circular economy.

Beyond environmental conservation

The Eco-Friendly Farm is envisioned as a practical learning and training hub for schoolchildren, young people and women-led enterprises.

Through hands-on environmental education, composting and sustainable food production, the project seeks to equip communities with green skills, encourage entrepreneurship and support climate resilience.

The initiative reflects Zoomlion Kenya’s broader commitment to bridging corporate waste management operations, public leadership and grassroots community action.

From waste evacuation and market cleanups to organic waste recovery and environmental awareness, The company continues to champion the principle that waste management is everyone’s business.

Commemorating Mazingira Day 2026

The launch also formed part of activities to commemorate Mazingira Day 2026, featuring a school tour, corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement and environmental awareness activities at Wangu Comprehensive Primary and Junior School.

The initiative underscores the importance of educating the next generation about responsible waste disposal, recycling, tree planting and the protection of Planet Earth.

By bringing environmental action directly into a school community, Zoomlion Kenya is helping demonstrate how collaboration between the private sector, public leadership and educational institutions can contribute to a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Nairobi.
