Lazizi Welfare Foundation Spreads Joy with Tree Lighting, Commits to Mukuru’s Education
NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 10 – In a Heartwarming festive ceremony, the Lazizi Welfare Foundation, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to education, healthcare, conservation and community development hosted Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Nairobi, offering a message of hope and opportunity to vulnerable children.
The special event brought together students from Nifikie Christian School in Mukuru Kwa Njenga an underserved settlement, providing them with a rare festive experience outside their community and delivering a powerful message of hope for a brighter future.
The celebration transcended the holiday season, symbolizing the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to quality education for every child, especially with the announcement that, in line with Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) reforms, the foundation plans to fund the construction of a Grade 9 classroom at Nifikie Christian School.
Costing approximately KES 500,000 this project ensures continuity for students beyond Grade 8, addressing a critical gap for children in Mukuru who often face educational disruption due to limited school infrastructure.
“This Christmas, we are giving the gift of opportunity, By supporting the Grade 9 classroom, we are not only helping 33 students transition smoothly but creating a generational impact; every child from Grade 1 onward will have a guaranteed path to higher learning”, said Steve Raburu, Project Manager, Lazizi Welfare Foundation.
Additionally, the partnership between Lazizi Welfare Foundation and Nifikie Christian School has already transformed lives through feeding programs, stationery provision and psychosocial support.
According to Stacy Kefuka, Director of Nifikie Christian School said the collaboration with Lazizi Foundation has been a lifeline.
“Beyond education, they bring love, meals and essential supplies, making school a safe and nurturing space for over 300 children, Today’s tree lighting event is an eye-opener for these kids, showing them a world of possibilities”, She said.
The event featured shared meals and interactive activities, reinforcing the core of the foundation’s vision: that every child deserves quality education and an opportunity, and that nature must be protected for future generations.
As the Lazizi Welfare Foundation marks two years of official operations, its strategic focus is evolving and shifting towards achieving a sustainable impact, spanning areas from education access and child welfare to crucial infrastructural development.
