Mosop Fatal Crash: KEMRI to Conduct DNA Identification of Victims in Mosop Fatal Helicopter Crash

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 3 – The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is providing DNA testing to help identify victims of the recent helicopter crash, the institute’s advanced molecular biology and forensic labs will collect DNA samples from relatives of the deceased for comparative analysis.

The accident which occurred on Saturday 28 2026 claimed the life of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno and five others on board in Mosop, Nandi County plunging the nation into a period of unexpected mourning as news of the wreckage in Mosop filtered through, a heavy silence fell over Emurua Dikirr, where constituents gathered in disbelief to process the loss of their long-serving representative.

The DNA profiling process will match genetic material from the crash site with samples from close relatives, ensuring accurate identification.

KEMRI’s trained scientists and forensic experts will conduct the analysis following international standards.

Additionally, the effort underscores KEMRI’s commitment to providing scientific solutions for public health emergencies and disaster response.

The DNA identification will provide families with closure and support authorities in completing legal procedures.
