Petrol and Kerosene prices drop by Ksh1 in EPRA monthly review
NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 14 – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) in the latest review has announced prices of super petrol and kerosene down by Ksh1 per litre, while diesel remain unchanged.
According to EPRA, the new prices will apply from August 15 2025 to September 14 2025 as set under the Petroleum Act 2019 and the relevant legal notice.
In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Ksh.185.31, Ksh.171.58 and Ksh.155.58 effective midnight for the next 30 days.
The drop comes after last month’s prices saw super petrol at Ksh186.31, diesel at Ksh171.58, and kerosene at Ksh156.58 per litre.
This adjustment means that motorists and households will see a slight relief at the pump for super petrol and kerosene, but those using diesel will not experience any change.
The review comes after a month of higher prices that had left many Kenyans digging deeper into their pockets.
EPRA’S latest changes will now lower the cost of super petrol and kerosene slightly, offering minor relief for transport and household energy expenses.
However, with diesel prices staying unchanged, transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on diesel-powered vehicles may still face high operating costs.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020”.
Further, EPRA states that the landed cost of imported super petrol decreased by 0.73 per cent, from $628.30 (Kshs 81,201) per cubic metre in June 2025 to $623.71 (Ksh 80,608) per cubic metre in July 2025.
The average landed cost for both diesel and kerosene increased by 3.08 per cent and 3.20 per cent, respectively during the same period.
