St. George’s University Partners with Hilton College to Open New Global Pathways for Aspiring South African Doctors
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Aug 26 – St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, has established an academic affiliation with Hilton College, one of South Africa’s leading independent schools, to expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in medicine.
The collaboration arrives at a critical juncture for South African healthcare education. With only ten medical schools in the country, local university places remain exceptionally competitive, leaving thousands of qualified candidates without options each year.
This new affiliation offers Hilton College graduates a direct international pathway to earn a globally recognized Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
Under the agreement, eligible students who complete their secondary education can apply directly to SGU’s 5-Year MD track.
Qualified applicants gain access to dedicated admissions guidance, guaranteed interviews, and eligibility for partial merit-based scholarships.
Enrolled students have the choice to begin their foundational studies either at SGU’s main campus in Grenada or at Northumbria University in Newcastle, United Kingdom.
As they progress, students enter clinical rotations across SGU’s network of over 75 affiliated hospitals and health centers in the United States and the United Kingdom, gaining hands-on clinical exposure in global healthcare settings.
