Women Rights Organizations have denounced ill-intentioned attempts to undermine Chief Justice and the Judiciary
NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 1…The women rights organizations with other Kenyans have joined hands to express unwavering support to Chief Justice Martha Koome and entire Judiciary amid ill-intentioned attempts to undermine Judiciary noting that it works for the protection of citizens and their rights safeguarding the integrity of Constitution and the nation.
They raised concerns that the unwanted and vicious attacks against Judiciary President, highlighting that the Justices of the supreme Court seeks to discredit the Judiciary and cause Kenyans to loose faith in it saying that they will no longer remain silent.
“Hon. Martha Koome has steered a Judiciary that is practically ensuring that justice is accessible, affordable and close to the people especially the marginalized and vulnerable like women, children, people living with disabilities and others living in hard to reach areas”, they said.
Women of Kenya further said that they are aware of ongoing onslaught against the Chief Justice and judges of supreme Court as well as victimisation campaign orchestrated by ill-intentioned personalities seeking the destruction of the fabric of Judiciary by petitioning removal from office of all Supreme Court Judges.
In addition they urged petitioners to consider immediate and unconditional withdrawal of petition for the removal of Hon. Chief Justice Martha Koome and othe judges of the Supreme Court.
“We encourage women across the country and across the political divide including female Governors, Senators, Members of Parliament and Womeb Members of County Aseemblies and indeed all Kenyans of goodwill to raise their voices to this ill-intentioned campaign against women leadership”, they stated.
Furthermore, they called upon Women rights defenders and Women rights organizations regionally and nationally to object to the pulling down of Hon. Chief Justice Martha Koome and other Women leaders.
“We urge religious leaders, professional groups, media, civil society groups, private sector and all Kenyans goodwill to defend independe of the Judiciary even as we continue to demand for Judicial accountability”.
